February 2 – February 7, 2020
My final week in the outreach location was very hard. I still was enjoying our ministry work, but knowing we all had to say goodbye to our close friends made it difficult for me to keep going. Even though I only knew them for a month, I felt as though they were all family, and I was just starting to go deeper with them. It was hard to say goodbye and I will miss them all for sure. There also was a sickness going around the team, and unfortunately I caught it as well. It was only a head cold but it didn’t help to make things easier. I really learned how to downed on the Lord for my strength and energy.

On the happier side, on our day off a few of my fellow teammates and I went on a little adventure to a lake. We did some bushwhacking, saw many wild flamingoes (plus a dead one), got all wet and muddy, picked wild oranges and threw them at each other and stopped for ice cream at a very cheap store. The next day we all had a big brunch together and a final dinner as a team at a Lebanese restaurant. The amount of food was ridiculous but it was all so tasty.

I also got to celebrate my 20th birthday! Despite it being a busy and sad day of goodbyes, I really enjoyed it! My roommates surprised me in the morning by making me breakfast and getting me little gifts. Then during our last supper with everyone we connected with, we had lots of dessert and a cake with trickster candles, so every time I blew them out, they lit up again! Everyone got a real kick out of it!

After a very long prayer process, I decided to only stay a month in the outreach location, and come back with the team to Scotland. I felt the Lord was letting me test the waters in this outreach location, but it was not the right time or season for me to be there longer. We arrived in Scotland on February 7th, and I’ll be here for a week before I travel back to Canada. Besides being sick and having a lot of pressure in my head, I’m extremely thankful that I had no travel issues. We even had arrived just in time before a big storm was coming in Scotland!

I really enjoyed every minute on outreach, all the friends I made, laughs I had, and growing in faith with the Lord. Oh, how He has provided for me this whole time! I was stretched and challenged to step out in faith, doing so in the Lord’s love and peace. This outreach being so focused on family, definitely met that. We were family to others, and they were family to us.
I look forward to sharing more about this trip once I come home, and if you would like more information please feel free to email me!
