Street Evangelism

Our team has done a bit of street evangelism which basically is us going onto the streets and finding ways to preach the gospel, or share God’s love. We have done so many things from building sandcastles declaring the Lords truth, to making prophetic art pieces and handing them out, to prayer walking around the city. We also like to go to coffee shops, make bookmarks and hide them in books laying around the shops. We do a lot of out loud bible reading in public spaces and try to start conversations with people that are highlighted to us by the Lord.

The other day while making a giant “sandcastle”, we had many people stop by and look because it was so big. We wrote the saying “By God’s grace, we are free” in 3D letters with a huge wave of grace beside it. People would read it and it would start a conversation about God. A few people agreed, and some smiled and nodded but it was fun to make small talk with a few locals.

One day, a trainee and I went out to do some Street Evangelism and we felt lead to a public restaurant and bar. We ordered some non alcoholic drinks and started conversing as normal. We then noticed the bar tenders were all on one side of the room waiting and standing around awkwardly. I asked my friend if she sensed anything from the Holy Spirit and she said something felt off. I felt very awkward too, and we turned around and right behind us was this big camera facing our direction! There were two people acting behind us, a guy with a boom mike beside us and turns out they were filming a local TV show. Afterwards the bar tender came back and apologized the drinks took so long because they weren’t allowed to be in the shot. We asked if we needed to move and he said no, if we don’t want to be seen just to turn around and have our backs facing the camera! It’s very possible we may be extras on a popular TV show in this country. Then a couple minutes later a girl fainted, out of nowhere. My friend and I prayed for the girl and she then got up and continued on her way. It was a very eventful day! We later asked the Lord what all of that was about, what was the reason we felt to go there and we heard Him say it had to do with the girl, and He was teaching us about obedience. There’s a lot that we still don’t know, but as long as we did what Jesus said, then we did all we could. My eyes have been opened to the reality that we don’t always know what God is up to, we can be apart of it but He tends to know a whole lot more of what is going on behind the scenes and in people’s lives.
