Starting May, 2019, I’ve been doing a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Scotland. The school was a mobile DTS, so I have been travelling all across Scotland learning about Jesus and spreading His love to others. YWAM is a nondenominational missions organization who’s main focus is to know God and make Him known. This school has impacted me and my relationship with God in so many ways!
One of the main things God has been focusing on is changing my view of myself and teaching me about my true identity in Christ. In Stirling, I had the opportunity to break agreement with lies I had been believing about myself and to switch my focus to God’s truth. This being my first breakthrough, it really changed my beliefs of myself, and started my growth in confidence of who I am to the Lord (that is His daughter). Through the rest of my school, God has been teaching me what it means to be His daughter and adopted into His family.
One of the biggest revelations I had was truly accepting and believing the Lord has never and will never leave my side. He is my SAFE PLACE! With that revelation deep down in my heart, I was able to step out and do things I never thought I could!
My school team and I went on a 62 mile hike over the course of five days! It was quite a stretch but God revealed His caring, supportive and loving nature through every step I took! My team also did a lot of evangelizing such as working as leaders at a Christian children’s day camp called Holiday Club, going out on the streets of Glasgow and ministering to the homeless and spreading God’s love for people and the arts during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (The world’s largest art festival!). I even had the opportunity to lead two people to accept Jesus as their Lord and saviour!
I finished my school in September and joined the next DTS to complete some requirements needed for me to graduate. In West Kilbride, the past month I’ve connected with a whole new group of people, and I’m so thankful Jesus helped me fit right in! God has been revealing who He is focusing mainly on who He is as the Father, and teaching me all about the costs of being a true disciple. He’s been teaching me about true sacrifice, and what it means to truly trust Him in literally every part of my life.
It’s been quite an adventure and I cannot wait to see what God has in store next!
